New blue bags made from 100% recycled material

In 2024, we launched a pilot project to produce and distribute blue bags made from recycled material to 8,000 people, inviting them to complete a survey. The results of this survey and our analyses confirmed that recycled material could be used to produce our blue bags on a larger scale.

Today we are introducing our new blue bags, designed to reduce environmental impact while ensuring the same quality of use.

100 % recycled material

Our bags are now made from recycled LDPE, which allows existing plastic to be reused instead of manufacturing new plastic.

A regional approach

The blue bags are manufactured in Germany, which reduces transport-related emissions. Our bags are produced by Wethink and certified by Fraunhofer UMSICHT.

Measurable environmental benefits

Data from LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analyses show significant gains when switching from virgin plastic to recycled plastic:

- 78 % reduction in CO₂ emissions

- 180 liter of water saved per kilogram of virgin plastic not produced

- 70 à 90 % energy savings

- 0 liter of virgin oil used

- Approximately 2.7 kg of CO₂ are avoided at the system level, as the material is reused once more before incineration.
